The Computer Science competition devised to promote and celebrate student's ability in the field of Computing. Student teams will compete in a variety of challenges from various disciplines, from hardware to coding, with the goal of being crowned The Computing Games Champions. Along with the challenges we have speakers attending to give students some insites into future careers, technology and the developing market of Computer Science.

There will be four challenges for each team to take part in on the day. All teams will compete in each competition. The teams will be judged on their speed accuracy and team work throughout the challenges.
A key skill for anyone working in Computing is their ability to break down problems and tackle them logically. Teams will take part in a series of mini challenges testing their communication, teamwork and problem solving.
No computing competition would be complete without some coding. Using CodeHS's online platform, students will have to complete programming challenges of increasing difficulty. Remember time is of the essence.
HP will be providing hardware that the students can use to complete this task. This challenge will test your knowledge of the physical world of Computing.

Gary Lim is the Senior Partners-in-Learning Director at Microsoft. In his role, Gary is responsible for helping to transform the education agenda for the 21st century through successful execution of a broad set of initiatives within Singapore and the region. He engages with Educators, Government and Policy Leaders as their trusted advisor to ensure all stakeholders are provided with the latest in education technology to enhance learning outcomes and ensure a steady pool of future-ready individuals. Gary also sits on various committees where he contributes his time and insights with the primary focus on skills development in the infocomm sector.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Gary spent a large part of his career in academia as a senior faculty member where he was responsible for spearheading education partnerships to enable Singapore’s infocomm manpower needs to be adequately met. Key to his achievements was the launch of the Microsoft-Nanyang Polytechnic Cloud Innovation Centre, a world’s first cloud innovation centre in an academic institution during its launch. Gary also advocated the use of new teaching methodologies such as flipped classroom in the various diploma programs which he was overseeing. Through this advocacy, Gary established the deployment of Surface devices across campus via the Surface for Edu offer in 2013. Gary was also involved in policy and roadmap formulation at the organizational level and have led efforts in audit & compliance strategies pertaining to cloud security.
He will be talking about future developments in the industry and possible career choices to help you get ahead in this ever increasing market.
With more than 10 years of game development experience, Cristian Astudillo's work has taken him to countries across the world, including Spain, England and Singapore. Now, Cristian brings his unique understanding of cultural differences and diverse game development skills to DigiPen as a lecturer for the Department of Game Software Design and Production.
Cristian has participated in a variety of game projects, including games for children, educational titles, augmented reality systems, and triple-A productions. His game development credits span companies such as SEGA, Disney, Sony, and Ubisoft, and Cristian has worked on such games as Planet 51, Disney Universe, Wonderbook: Book of Spells, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Assassin’s Creed Unity.
We all dream of writing and being involved in the production of our favourite games. Cristian will be telling you how it happens and how you might break into this competitive field.
